3/10/16 – Sedation and Chill

It’s Thursday!!!

Judah has been sedated for nearly a week at this point, and even though I’ve been right by his side, I miss him terribly. Though as I sit by his bedside, I think of all the mothers who have watched over their ill and healing loved ones throughout the ages, and I’m proud to carry on this ancient tradition. We have a lot more help these days, but Mom’s always here to make sure things are ok. That’s universal and timeless.

Anyway. My blog posts will wax a bit more philosophically than Nate’s.

The small hiccups at the start of the week are somewhat behind us, and right now Judah’s biggest concern is constipation. For the CICU, that’s not too shabby. He’s been comfortable and resting for the most part, and if he starts to shimmy around, I act as interpreter and let the nurses know what he needs. Even though he’s on some pretty impressive drugs, he still doesn’t like to be too warm, things on his face, and cheering. He did NOT want to watch Cars yesterday.

The “hiccups” were a bacterial infection and fever, intolerance of feeds and trying to find the right level of sedation – really your everyday kinds of things in ICU. Thanks to all the prayers and good vibes coming from everyone, we’ve been able to sweat the small stuff, which I am grateful for.

I don’t have too many photos to share simply because Judah IS intubated and nobody wants to be seen like that. I did include one conservative photo, just so everyone can see how comfy he is!

Thank you again, for the prayers, love, mail, gifts, thoughts, energy and hope you all send us. We are truly grateful, and doing our best to heal quickly and carefully.

Much Love,

JNJ
(Mama Bear)
