Saturday 5/10 – Discharge day and healing at home

After the last two days of Judah finally getting all of the heavy medications out of his system and acting a bit more like himself, this morning Judah was in great spirits and we were finally discharged from the hospital to continue our healing and rest at home!

Judah is doing wonderfully – playing, signing words, and trying to get up and run around just like his old self. He is still recovering from surgery, but the worst is over and we move forward with our healing in the safety and comfort of our own home. Judah was extremely happy to get home and see his doggy and kitty. Although his stamina is not back up to full yet, being at home is much better for all of us than being at the hospital. We look ahead to the coming weeks and months, when Judah will need to go back for a few more procedures and tests before the trach finally comes out for good, though none as invasive as the one he just went through.

We have so many doctors, nurses, friends and family to thank for helping us get through these last 10 days, we are truly in awe of the incredible work the staff at Children’s Hospital do every day, and absolutely blessed by the kindness, love, and strength given to us by all of you. We hope now that we are back at home, Judah’s recovery will kick into high gear, and we know that he’ll be running around at full speed in no time.

all our love

  3. Way to go Judah! What a wonderful Mother’s Day present for mommy ( and daddy too). Wishing you lots of health and happiness.
    We love you!

  4. Phew! I have been anxiously awaiting this wonderful news. Home is so good.
    O happy day!

  5. Happy Mother’s Day to you! I know you could not have received a better gift. It will take some time for Judah to rebulld his stamina and strenght, but I have every confidence he will do it….and quickly too! He is too active and curious for a surgery, however invasive, to get him down!! I will be so happy for him the day he gets his trach out. That will be the greatest gift of all for your family!
Love and hugs to everyone and especially Judah!!
