Thursday 3/21 – The Eagle has Landed

193 days. We’ve waited 193 days, but at long last the day has finally come. Today, we were able to bring our son home for the first time. After several good days in a row, this afternoon Judah was discharged from Children’s Hospital. Now that we have our home nursing in place, and most of our medical equipment has been delivered, we were as prepared as possible to finally welcome our son into our home, and with him here, it truly feels like home.

Getting ready to go

On my way home

Today was a flurry of activity, with nurses, coordinators, medical supply deliveries, and people coming in and out all day long to help us get settled in. These first few weeks will be a hectic and crazy yet incredible new experience for us, one we have looked forward to for over 6 months.

Judah is healthier today than he has ever been. While for Mommy and Daddy these next few weeks will take a lot of getting used to, and there will be occasional freak outs and fears and worries, there will also be a lot of cuddling and playing and loving time in our own home we have been waiting so patiently for.

We now move into that next phase that always seemed so far off on the horizon, being home together as a family. Although it was very sad to leave the friends and family that we have made at the Hospital and at the Children’s Home, we are truly ready to be the caregivers that Judah needs now. Judah’s cardiac journey is far from over, and he will have a number of appointments, follow ups, procedures and more in the coming days, weeks, months and years, but he already seems comfortable sleeping in his own bed, and seeing him there gives us more comfort than can possibly be imagined.

All of our love, finally together at home,

J-N-J

  4. I was just thinking of the three of you when I saw your posting! I am so very happy to hear that Judah has finally gone home and know that you are beyond excited! I am sure you also have some fear with this!! There will be times when you have false alarms and worry excessively as all parents do, but this is normal. Normal, that’s a work that you have not had in your lives much lately, I think.

I wish you all many blessings and much happiness at having Judah at home. By the looks of the photos you posted, he was ready to be there!

Pleease stay in touch and let us all know of your adventures at home. I realize Judah has a long way to go still, but I think doing all this from a home base will be wonderful for you all.

Hugs and kisses to Judah! xxooxx
